We have been getting a lot of rain. I heard Neptune was aligned with our planet in 2013, (ruled by Venus) and this was the cause. My plants and the frogs are loving it.

I have been listening to Kevin Trudeau's Your Wish is Your Command CD Series. It is definitely pushing my envelope a bit. I have identified the pattern - you know the one: You want to do something, and something is holding you back? You don't acheive it. Guess what? It's our "own" minds that are blocking our good with negative thoughts... what we believe, we will achieve.

We are in a land of abundance and more than enough, yet we oftentimes focus on what we believe we lack. And thinking about what we believe we lack all the time, we then create more lack. Let's all knock it off!

A new healthy habit could be cleaning up our thoughts and developing lighter, easier thoughts to take their place. This Habit costs nothing - nothing but time listening to and changing our inner dialog... changing limiting and fearful lacking thoughts to ones of being GRATEFUL, and visualizing what you DO want! It can be quite a challenge for some and even myself in some traffic situations.

Smoothie bliss!!! I have discovered a new smoothie I am loving! Pineapple has been a good price lately. I love having it in my smoothies.

Pineapples are an excellent source of natural nutrients as well as dietary fiber. This fruit is a great source of natural enzymes that helps break down proteins for digestion and can even help prevent certain diseases like cancer and cardiac illnesses. The pineapple is also low in saturated fat and a great source of manganese and vitamin C. A serving size of about a cup of pineapple cut into chunks (165 g) contains the following nutrients:

Delicious Pineapple Nutrition
Bromelain – as mentioned before, pineapples are rich in enzymes, and one such enzyme is bromelain. This natural enzyme will help break down foods to facilitate digestion; it can remove debris in the digestive tract as well as toxins that can prevent certain diseases. Bromelain also increases the body’s recovery from injuries and helps reduce inflammation. This enzyme is used as a popular supplement among dieters and athletes who would like to develop a leaner, trimmer and healthier figure. Manganese – this nutrient is essential for improving bone strength and making blood healthier; it can help in bone formation, wound healing, and it contributes to healthy skin and hair. When manganese interacts with zinc, calcium and copper, it can significantly reduce osteoporosis in older women.
Vitamin C – pineapples are great sources of vitamin C. This vitamin is needed in the natural formation of collagen to help grow new skin, blood vessels and bone. Needless to say, vitamin C also helps increase the body’s resistance to infections and illnesses especially the common cold. A glass of pineapple juice or a small bowl of pineapple chunks is enough to provide you more than your average daily requirements of vitamin C.
Thiamine (vitamin B1) – this vitamin is important in the development of energy through the breakdown of carbohydrates. It is also essential in making the nervous system healthier and improves the functions of muscles and nerve endings. Pineapple is a rich source of vitamin B1 as well as foods like meat, poultry, green leafy vegetables and whole grains.
Dietary fiber – this fruit is loaded with fiber which is great for a healthy heart and blood vessels. Fiber helps sweep the colon clean, decreases blood pressure and improves cholesterol levels.

Pineapple in Traditional Medicine
Centuries before the nutrients of the pineapple were discovered, there were cultures that used the fruit in traditional medicinal applications. This fruit is known to have natural anti-inflammatory properties and is an effective anthelmintic. It can reduce the symptoms of rheumatism, like joint pains and the swelling and reduction of joint movement. The pineapple has also been used for children who are infected with parasitic worms. Just a cup of pineapple will help remove worms in the digestive tract immediately. From: pineapplenutrition.org

Thai Basil!

I added to the pineapple, coconut water, baby kale, stevia, flax, msm, and the secret ingredient! Thai basil! You know, that plant you always buy every year and then don't know what to do with it. It is wonderful with pineapple and greens! Try it out for yourselves - a large sprig or less/more to taste : ) Regular basil or Lime Basil is lovely also.

And! Beet greens are so beautiful to add to any smoothie. Our liver loves these greens too!

Beet Greens, raw:
The good: This food is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Protein, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorus and Zinc, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.

The bad: This food is very high in Sodium, so use caution.
Was thinking about developing a "cozy", sewing it up and marketing it. This idea (shown) works "good enough" to keep my coffee warm longer... Use a kitchen towel and a big clip. LOL!

My friend Laura reminded me this spring about using Toilet Paper rolls as little pots for plant starters. You cut them in half, cut 4, 1/4" slits on one end and fold them in like closing a box where you tuck the last end under the 1st. Add good dirt, they work great and can go right into the ground as is. They biodegrade. I have been saving big plastic bins from spinach. They have lids and act like mini-greenhouses for the baby plants.

Well that's it for today's blog. I wish you the most fun you can have-
How can it get any better than this?Hi again you all,

Another perfect day in paradise : )

Been awhile. I have been busy settling into some new patterns: forming new co-creative business associations, designing new graphic and web projects (http://www.hankeder.com), new ways to create income, screenwriting classes, writing a plan for a new business, video projects, gardening... Lots of doing and not so much just being. Today, I will wander up the road to the community pool, Rick Reardon hero book in hand, to sit and relax... Ahhhhhh summer!

So much going on! A dear friend in Chicago has formed an organization to support Single Payer Health Care: http://duh4all.org/. I am for it! As many of us know, when the monetary going gets tough (as is the case for so many at this time), healthcare becomes a huge burden - and with many, their lives depend on getting the medicines and care that their bodies need, just to keep living.

Imagine a world where everyone gets equal care and money is not the determining factor. It's a cause and way of life that is worthy of our attention. My Chicago friend Sue also directed me to a local group in the area: WNC Health Advocates, Leslie Boyd. She has a great blog also: http://www.wnchealthadvocates.org Leslie mentioned a Doctor in Asheville locally, who has decided not to take insurance anymore. You pay a set 1st visit cost and each visit thereafter is $50. I just emailed her. I want to be able to support docs who are charging in this way - it's the new paradigm

Just like "donation-based" yoga classes. Pay what you can,if you don't have ANY, you can always come practice anyway. EVERYONE is included. That's one way to effect change - locally... At local restaurant, Rosetta's, their policy is "everyone eats". If you don't have money, you can go there and they will feed you. They also have a reduced price menu... most items are $5 or $6.

Anyway, my friend Sue is creating a single-payer healthcare demonstration to put the word out and she will be traveling across the country in 2014 to spread the word. I have a dream running in my head that I will be able to procure a RV and gas/food money and be her driver/video person for the duration of her journey. If you can help us with this dream in ANY way for 2014, shoot me an email.

Onto everyday concerns...

As per my last posted blog in Feb., I was talking about healthier dryer sheet options. I threw out the unhealthy sheets that my roomie had and replaced them with Mrs. Meyers brand. These work great to get rid of the static - leave clothes scented nicely. My roomie liked them alot. At $8 for 80 sheets, that should last 6 to 8 months for one person. Well worth the additional cost.

Then, I went to Michael's craft store and purchased 1 skein of 100% wool yarn. I wrapped the yarn into balls, stuffed them into the legs of an old pair of panty hose, and washed/dried on super hot, as described in the last blog. The balls felted nicely. I added some essential oils that I purchased from Wicklow Fragrance in Hendersonville, NC. I decided on "Rain" scent - very clean. I added a few drops to the yarn balls and dried my clothes. I didn't notice any reduction in static, but the clothes smelled very nice and looked less wrinkled. I Really like using them too. Feels very organic - a fun experiment : )
The chickens are laying eggs and enjoying their lives, spotted a lunar moth the other day, baby goslings in the lake (I said a quick prayer that they would escape any snapping turtle predators).
I hope your summer is going great... not even really summer Yet... sure feels like it though.

I hope you have a beautiful day-

2013 is the year of the
black Snake and began on February 10th shortly after the New moon in
Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac.

This 2013 year of Snake
is meant for steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and
discipline will be necessary for you to achieve what you set out to
create. The Snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which
consists of 12 Animal Signs.

It is the enigmatic, intuitive,
introspective, refined and collected of the Animals Signs. Ancient
Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means
that your family will not starve. More...Sounds good to me!

One of the best reasons to enjoy quinoa is because it has a high-protein content, which makes it a great cholesterol-free and low-fat source of protein. According to the USDA nutrient database, 1 cup of cooked quinoa (185 g) contains 8.14 grams of protein. To put that in reference, the recommended daily protein intake is about 56 grams for most men and 46 for most women.

Quinoa is naturally low in fat, but as a seed, it does have a small amount. One cup of cooked quinoa provides 3.4 grams of fat. By comparison, 185 grams cooked lean ground beef provides 33 grams of fat. Quinoa is relatively low in calories. One cup of cooked quinoa provides 222 calories.

I was reminded recently, when a friend disclosed her experience "Cleaning Up" her space after a cancer scare. (If you want more info on how to do that look at Hulda Clark's books.) My friend mentioned the toxins in the dryer sheets. So to pass on some knowledge to whoever wants to pursue it, check it out:

The Dangers of Dryer Sheets

Do you know about the toxic danger of fabric softener and dryer sheets? A simple change in your laundry routine can save money, protect your health, and help the environment, all at the same time.
Fabric
softener and dryer sheets may make your clothes feel soft and smell
fresh, and they help prevent your socks from sticking to your blouses,
as well as that annoying shock you get when you’re done folding laundry
and you reach for the doorknob.

What many people might not know is that fabric softeners and dryer sheets are actually really bad for you. Why? Because they contain a lot of chemicals that the EPA has classified as dangerous. And
because we use dryer sheets at the end of the laundry process, these
chemicals don’t get wiped off our clothes until our skin wipes them off.

And chances
are that the staggering 99.8 percent of Americans who use common
commercial detergents, fabric softeners, bleaches, and stain removers
would think twice if they knew they contained chemicals that could cause cancer and brain damage.

With more and
more studies coming out, people are finally starting to get the news: by
using these chemical fabric softeners and other chemicals, you are exposing yourself and your family to toxic chemicals that could have dire long-term consequences.
The Chemicals In Dryer Sheets

If you’d like
to read the original EPA report on these hazardous chemicals (their
report covers 31 common household items including, of course, dryer
sheets and fabric softener), you can download it here: http://www.exposurescience.org/WNP91

Fabric
softeners are made to stay in your clothing for long periods of time. As
such, chemicals are slowly released either into the air for you to
inhale or onto your skin for you to absorb. Dryer sheets are
particularly noxious because they are heated in the dryer and the
chemicals are released through dryer vents and out into the environment.

The exposure is so constant that it can be difficult to connect the product with the signs of reactivity it causes.

Green Alternatives To Dryer Sheets

Well, the cheapest, and greenest, option, is to ditch using dryer sheets altogether.
Or you can try one of these green options:

Fill a small cloth sack with dried herbs like lavender or basil. This will help scent your laundry.

Purchase some essential oils like lavender, sandalwood, or mint.
Drip a few drops on a cloth, and throw it into the dryer with the rest
of your clothes.

If you’re worried about cling, then add one or two tablespoons of
vinegar to your washing machine’s rinse cycle. This will help the
wrinkles fall out in the dryer. You can also try adding 1/2 cup of
baking soda to your rinse cycle if the vinegar doesn’t do the trick.

There are several green dryer sheets out on the market. One is Mrs. Meyers Clean Day. They list all the ingredients on their website, and the sheet is biodegradable

You can also check out 7th Generation’s Fabric Softener Seventh Generation.
Like Mrs. Meyers, they fully list their ingredients on their site.

Ecover is another company that makes eco-friendly cleaning products including fabric softener and laundry detergent.

It’s
amazing to me that there’s no regulation by the government on any of
this; we’re all dependent on each other when it comes to finding this
stuff out. Fortunately, it’s an easy problem to fix. We can simply green up our
laundry room by not using these dangerous chemicals and opting for
safer alternatives instead.
I am intrigued with Wool Dryer Balls. We get a lot of static. It sounds like an easy, sustainable solution.

Wool does not harbor bacteria.

A set of three wool dryer balls in your dryer will shorten drying time by 15-25%.

Wool Dryer balls are made to eliminate static and soften clothes.

They also cut down on ironing, because clothes come out of the dryer less wrinkled

They will help your dryer last longer.
Dryer sheets and softeners have chemicals and waxes that can kill a
dryer’s heating element. The softeners/dryer sheets cause wax buildup on
the lint catcher so hot moisture is not escaping the dryer, which
could burn out the heater.

Wool dryer balls will keep your laundry clean and toxic free. There are no fragrances or anything synthetic about them.

Reduces Waste: Unlike
conventional dryer sheets that must be discarded, just leave the 100%
safe wool dryer balls right in the dryer for load after load.

To use, simply toss 3-6 balls in your dryer and start. No need to remove them from the dryer, just reuse! Add your favorite essential oil to these for a wonderful scent of your choice!

We can do a lot to protect our health by making smarter choices in the products we use every day! A simple change in your laundry routine can save money, protect your health, and help the environment, all at the same time.
Here's a DO-IT-YOURSELF solution. My favorite!

Wool Dryer Balls
Save Time and Energy

" ...you can speed up laundry drying times by turning a skein of wool yarn into three felted wool balls.
These balls
function as fabric softener and you can add a few drops of an essential
oil to give your laundry whatever scent you'd like. All you need to do
is wrap a length of wool yarn around your fingers twenty times, slip the
strands of yarn off your fingers and wrap the middle of that circle
another twenty times until it reaches the size of a tennis ball and then
you cut the yarn and tuck the end under another strand. A standard
skein of yarn should make three or four of these balls.

The last step is
to "felt" the balls to make sure they won't unravel. Place a ball in the
end of a leg of pantyhose or tights and secure it with a piece of
synthetic string that won't felt and add the next ball and so on. Once
everything is tied off run it through a wash cycle and your dryer on the
highest heat settings.

At this point you will have several wool
dryer balls that work great for improving drying efficiency and
eliminating fabric softener.

People can take back their bodies, their confidence, their health. Most anybody can do this, and it's not that hard. I want to spread the word about this diet because it REALLY works people!!!! You don't have to remain overweight if you don't want to. With this diet and by changing some un-healthy habits, you can lose that weight and reset your body to work as it was intended again!

Many will say it is too expensive to eat all organic. Truthfully, I have not done the math yet, but do plan to. For the diet you eat ONLY foods that are: ORGANIC, Free-Range, Grass-fed, Cold Water, Wild Caught protein for the meat-eaters.

There's also a vegan version:
http://samanthasjourneytowellness.blogspot.com/2011/06/starting-hcg-round-2vegan-style.html

I completed this diet in September. I lost the weight (30 lbs) and developed some healthier habits with eating and the weight is staying off! And guess what, I am still losing weight! I can eat almost anything - Organic of course, even macadamia nuts!!! For me, the problem was grains and sugar. I was eating pretty clean before the diet, but was still eating the grains and sugar. Eliminated these and my body is now effortlessly moving to its perfect weight.

And! my arthritis symptoms are gone. It's a beautiful thing. As of today I have lost 39 lbs!

This diet broke all the rules that I had known about dieting. We really don't need to count calories or fat!

The diet was created in the 1940's and was used by royalty, movie stars and the very wealthy. I would encourage you to read Kevin Trudeau's book The Weight Loss Cure... There is SO much info in that book! Check it out! (I got my copy at the used book store for $3 : )

The book helps explain that the reason so many are overweight. The processed foods, the chemicals sprayed on the foods (not organic), GMO (genetically modified) foods, grains and processed sugar all play a big part.

I feel more energetic, and confident since the diet and am enjoying wearing smaller, more flattering clothes. Check it out if you want to be thinner.

I believe, if we stick together, we can direct the market to offer more Organic
selections, by putting our money and resources toward only those
companies that are providing healthy sustainable food and products. I am
reading a very interesting book that is making this "Buy Local" slogan I
see all over town more real and important to me. Check it out: The Soul of Money, by Lynne Twist.

I hung out with Mike at the Sam's Club last week. He was demonstrating the VitaMix, and I was sampling his creations. He added a small slice of lime with the peel attached to his fruit smoothies. Limes are very alkaline.

Limes give you a healthy dose of calcium, iron, potassium and copper. Both lemons and limes are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids.

surprising being the ability of these fruits to stop the cell division
that often leads to many forms of cancer. They reduce the risk of diabetic heart disease and
atherosclerosis, as well as death from diseases
like heart disease, cancer and stroke.

Lemons and limes both have
antioxidant properties—thanks to the vitamin C—that can stop free
radicals in their tracks. This can lead to less inflammation and helps
fight diseases like osteoarthritis, arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

It's been awhile since my last post. I have been sorting through my life and being grateful for this new place where I have landed- a place of wide openness - of fields and farmlands, horses, cows, chickens, sheep & goats! It is a joyful place for my soul.

I have been pondering the best way to eat Ground Flax Seeds. They are packed with nutrition.

Health
benefits of Flax Seed

As in other oil seeds, flax too is one of the
very high-calorie foods. 100 g (a little less than 1/2 cup) of seeds contain 534 calories. The seeds are an excellent source of
numerous health-benefiting nutrients, dietary fiber, minerals,
antioxidants and vitamins that are essential for optimum health.

Flax seed is rich in monounsaturated fatty
acids like oleic acid.
It is also one of the top vegetable sources of omega-3 essential fatty acids
such as linoleic acid,
alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and arachidonic acids. Regular
intake of small portions of flax seeds in the diet helps to lower total
as well as LDL or “bad cholesterol” and increases HDL or “good
cholesterol” levels in the blood. Research studies suggest that
Mediterranean diet that is rich in fiber, monounsaturated fatty acids
and omega-3 fatty acids help to prevent coronary artery disease and
strokes by favoring healthy blood lipid profile.

Flax seeds are perhaps one of the most widely
available botanical sources of n−3 or ω (omega)-3 fatty acids. Flax
seed oil consists of approximately 55% ALA (α-linolenic acid). One
spoonful of flax seed oil provides about 8 g of omega-3 fatty acids.
Research studies have suggested that n-3 fatty acids by their virtue of
anti-inflammatory action help lower the risk of blood pressure,
coronary artery disease, strokes and breast, colon and prostate
cancers. Adequate quantities of n-3 oils are required for normal infant
development and maturation of nervous system.

The
seeds
contain lignans,
a class of phytoestrogens considered to have antioxidant and cancer
preventing properties.

Flax
are
an excellent
source of vitamin E,
especially rich in gamma-tocopherol;
containing about
20 g (133% of daily-recommended values) per 100 g. vitamin E is a
powerful lipid soluble antioxidant,
required for maintaining the integrity of cell membrane of mucus
membranes and skin by protecting it from harmful oxygen-free radicals.

The seeds are packed with many important
B-complex groups of vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, pantothenic
acid, vitamin B-6, and folates.
Thiamin is an essential co-factor for carbohydrate metabolism and helps
prevent beri-beri
disease. Folates help prevent neural tube defects in the fetus when
consumed during pre-conception period and pregnancy.

Furthermore, flax
seed is
rich source of
minerals like manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and
selenium.

Flax or linseed oil has flavorful nutty aroma
and has been used in cooking, and as “carrier" or "base oil” in
traditional medicines and in pharmaceutical uses.
This is great if you need something to gel ingredients together for dehydrated crackers, and not so great for smoothies (in my opinion : ) I tried grinding them and just chugging it down followed by water - not a great way as it sticks to your teeth... hmmm... so I decided to use its natural properties to make a fruit pudding.

Experiment a bit with quantities as some fruits have more liquid than others. My first experiment was with pears and cinnamon. It was excellent. This time I tried Organic Frozen Blueberries. It's a hit with me.

Flax Seed Pudding

2 C Organic Frozen Blueberries
3 Tbsp of Organic ground Flax Seeds
2 Tsp of Organic Coconut Oil

Add about 2 cups of frozen blueberries to your blender and process till it is pretty fine. Add to a small pot, add coconut oil and slowly heat just until the oil has melted. Add the ground Flax Seeds, and about 6 drops of liquid Stevia ( or equivalent), stir till blended.

Pour equally into three bowls, lightly cover (with plastic Wrap, or saucers) and put into refrigerator to set up. I ate some later that day, but the next day it was fully gelled. Add to the top whatsoever you desire : ) I added flaked coconut, pecans, a dusting of organic cacao and drizzled agave on top.

So my flax seed "habit" has become a treat!

My daily requirement of Flax Seeds = 1 tablespoon per day. Add more or less flax as you develop preferences in texture. Coconut Oil aids in weight loss and has so many health benefits. I found this link - 101 uses for Coconut Oil. Check it out!
A new year is on the way. "They" are saying it will be 1000 years of enlightenment from here on out. I am so ready to hear that!

Part of my new Healthy Habits is staying away from sugar. Sugar is very addictive-it causes our body chemistry to become more acidic, which could leave us vulnerable to imbalances (ie: maladies such as colds, candida, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, etc...). This is a huge subject and I will write more on that at another time.

A sugar-free chocolate food is what I really want. Chocolate releases endorphins in the brain that promote relaxation. It is also very high in Magnesium - a mineral a lot of people are deficient in. Raw chocolate is a powerful antioxidant, elevates your mood and gives a boost in energy.

If I can substitute something chocolate, fresh and raw, AND easy to prepare, I won't be looking for something else that may have sugar in it. This recipe is making a difference in my creation of new healthy habits. I hope it will help others stay on track also.
Last I checked, it only uses Agave as a sweetener and has ingredients that are very healthy.

I read labels all the time and am still a bit surprised when I find sugar or a corn product in something it has no place being in. And Canola Oil (rapeseed oil). Does that sound like something you would put into your body?

Here's the scoop on Canola Oil from All-Organic-Food.com with a few comments from me in purple:

"We've
all been told at some time or another that canola is one of the
healthiest oils on the market. Canola, which is an amalgam of the words
"Canada" (whence it originated) and "oil," is actually derived from the
rapeseed, a member of the mustard family which is generally unfit for
human consumption and was once more commonly used as a potent pesticide
and
lubricant, among other things.

Chemically, canola breaks down at 5% saturated fat, 57% oleic acid, 23% omega–6, and 10–15% omega–3.

The reason canola is particularly unsuited for consumption is because it
contains a very–long–chain fatty acid called erucic acid, which under
some circumstances is associated with fibrotic heart lesions.

Sally Fallon, author of Nourishing Traditions, notes that the omega–3
fatty acids of processed canola oil are transformed during the
deodorizing process into trans–fatty acids. She relates that one study
indicated that "heart healthy" canola oil actually created a deficiency
of vitamin E, which, as many of us know, is essential to our
cardiovascular health. And on the practical side of things, canola isn't
that good either. Because of its high sulphur content, it goes rancid
easily, and baked goods used with the oil develop molds rather quickly.

Healthfood store operators parrot the hype without checking any facts.
Consumers search out various products with canola oil in them because
they believe this is somehow much healthier than other oils. All

Research at the University of Florida– Gainsesville, determined that as

saturated fats, especially those found in coconut oil are not harmful to
health, but are important nutrition. There are no trans isomers in
unrefined coconut butter, for example. This refers to many published
research papers by Mary Enig, Ph.D. that refutes all the establishment
propaganda condemning saturated fats."
Sometimes it agrees with us, and sometimes it does not. Last night "it" was not "agreeing" with my housemates tummy. So, after I dosed her with the cilantro, and delivered her Ginger Tea, I thought it might be a really helpful hint/good reminder for some of us this season.

If you find that your tummy is upset after one of your festive occasions, it is always good to have some ginger root around. I slice it thinly and add it to boiling water to make a tea. It is potent and spicy. Usually one cup is all it takes to settle my stomach. (My friend Marion taught me this!)

Ginger has been in use
since ancient times for its anti-inflammatory,
carminative (able to relieve flatulence), and anti-microbial properties.

The root contains essential
oils such as gingerol,
zingerone, shogaol, farnesene, and small amounts of B-phelladrene, cineol, and citral.
Very health benefiting! Gingerols
help improve the natural movements in the intestines and have anti-inflammatory,
painkiller (analgesic), nerve soothing, antipyretic (preventing or alleviating fever) as well as
anti-bacterial properties.

It may reduce motion sickness or pregnancy nausea and help relieve migraine
headaches. Zingerone is effective against diarrhea from E.coli, - good to use it for children with this condition.

This herb root contains no
cholesterol. It has essential nutrients and
vitamins such as vitamin B-6 & B-5 and also a healthy
amount
of
minerals like potassium, manganese, copper, and magnesium. Potassium is
an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling
heart rate and blood pressure.

CILANTRO
An EASY and quick stomach remedy is Cilantro Leaf Tincture. Put 30 drops in a cup of water, and drink it down. It's amazing! It has cleared my stomach upset in 20-30 minutes. It is also a remedy for food poisoning. I like to keep it in the house.

Cilantro also helps pull toxins and heavy metals like mercury, out of your body.

Cilantro contains vitamin C, cineole
and linoleic acid. It can help to increase excretion of excess fluids from
the body, reduce swelling and decrease symptoms of arthritis.

Parts of this are from a great article on Cilantro by <span class=" link
And remember, a bit of exercise or gentle stretching will help relieve the stress of this busy season. A pleasant stroll or walk around the block, helps us connect with nature and gives us time to exhale, perceive a different perception or just be silent with ourselves... breathing.

Have a terrific day! Next blog I will share with you a recipe for raw, sugar-free freezer fudge. Your taste buds will be amazed!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Here we are already into December 2012. The end of the Mayan Calendar!
Looks like we get to write this next chapter ourselves! What an amazing
time to be alive!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">What a year it has been. I pretty quickly (no fooling around) got my
nutrition/health act together this summer, (again, this is an ongoing
endeavor), and want to thank Jim, Jan and all the lovely people over at Asheville Integrative Medicine (http://www.docbiddle.com) for all the <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">guidance, <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">info, and <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">support while
I was getting help getting my nutrition straightened out and kicking out some
unwelcome invaders (more on this later). I am feeling leaner and
healthier now! YAY!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The challenge now is to stay on track!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I have decided to use this blog as an outlet to share my ongoing "self
researched" knowledge of nutrition, raw and healthier recipes, info about
eating better, interspersed with hints to help others get off the sugar
"Roller Coaster" and my experiments going "Gluten/Grain-Free".
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I have always loved to research nutritional info. As a teenager, I would ride my bike to the only health food store in town, to purchase supplements and herbs that I had researched. My mom was into it too in the 60's when for awhile
there, most everything she made us kids, had some wheat germ in it... or
was it nutritional yeast. I remember it fondly now that I know she was
really trying to help us all eat better. At the time though, it was
disappointing as I already thought I knew how the dish "should" taste.
Now I throw all kinds of things together, sometimes successful
tastebud-wise, sometimes I just drink it anyway because it's good for
me.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Life as an experiment.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I also love to create in the kitchen and find streamlined ways to prepare super healthy meals, snacks and desserts. I am often telling friends about what I am doing, and they are asking for the links and info so I have decided to do a nutritional blog. I hope you will comment and add your own healthy ideas and favorite recipes too.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Here we go,
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Sunday, December 9, 2012
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I received a book called I am Grateful, Recipes and Lifestyle of Cafe Gratitude
as a gift from a good friend. This is a beautiful book in thought and
essence! I have found I LOVE the recipes - especially Raw Cashew Ricotta/Sour Cream. It is a versatile topping for so many dishes, is
great on crackers for a quick snack and it is so easy to make!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">You rinse and soak the cashews at least 6 hours (I use about 2 cups),
drain and put it into a blender with about 1/2 cup of water to start
(add more to your desired consistency, juice from 1/2 lemon and salt to
your taste. You process it till smooth and creamy - YUM!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Cashews: This food is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Magnesium, Phosphorus, Copper and Manganese.<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

Check out their website and their books. http://cafegratitude.com/

I recently purchased a NutriBullet (a bit more powerful than it's
predecessor) with an online coupon for 20% off at a local housewares
chain store. It was under $100. I bought it on a recommendation from a
friend who was so excited about her purchase and how it has changed her
life. This is the friend who is usually running all day and in bed at
8:00ish, she is now calling me to <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">talk later and later in the evening. I suggested to her that her
newfound energy might be from using the "bullet" as she hadn't changed
much else lately in her life.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I had been considering buying another popular blender but had been
prohibited by the purchase price. This was just right. I find I use it
at least once a day, to make a healthy raw smoothie with my greens and a
couple pieces of fruit, I add coconut water, chlorella and maca - loose
and also a pinch of kelp. If not sweet enough, I add Stevia in the
liquid form. You only need a drop or 2 as it is pretty potent. The NutriBullet has
basically 2 parts that need to be cleaned and that's it!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I am excited about my new high-powered blender and I believe you can taste the difference. First time I tried a
smoothie from this appliance, I was aware of a lively zing and more vibrant
taste... so fresh.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And remember - Organic IS better - for many reasons, which I will go into at a later date.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
